The Project

The main motivation of AI-WORK is to empower small business owners, particularly those over the age of 50, with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and stay ahead of the competition. The rapid evolution of technology has made it increasingly challenging for small business owners to keep up with the latest advancements, especially in the field of AI. This poses a significant obstacle for small businesses as they strive to meet customer expectations, streamline operations, and remain competitive in the market. However, several factors contribute to the low adoption of AI among small  businesses, including cost, lack of knowledge, and a shortage of skilled professionals. AI-WORK aims to address these challenges and provide a comprehensive solution. By up-skilling small business owners in AI, the project will increase their digital readiness and enhance their competencies in this field.

The objectives of AI-WORK project proposal are the following:

Develop AI Up-skilling pathways

The project aims to design and implement structured up-skilling pathways specifically tailored to small business owners, particularly those over the age of 50, to enhance their competencies in the field of AI. These pathways will be designed to cater to individuals with varying levels of AI knowledge, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.

Increase digital readiness of SME owners and managers

AI-WORK will provide adult workers with the necessary
knowledge and skills to understand, adopt, and effectively use AI technologies in their businesses, leading to improved
efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness, as well as digital readiness, a key feature in the ever-evolving labour market.

Impact the labour market and adult education

The project will create a new, innovative, and replicable short module on AI
training. This module will serve as a comprehensive resource that can be adapted and replicated by other adult education
institutions, businesses, or organizations, extending the impact of the project beyond the consortium.

The expected results of AI-WORK are:

Increased AI Competencies among SME Owners

By the end of the project, the targeted SME owners will demonstrate
improved competencies in AI. They will be able to identify areas in their businesses where AI can be integrated effectively,
implement AI-driven solutions, and make informed decisions based on AI insights.

Enhanced Digital Transformation and Adaptability

AI-WORK aims to foster digital transformation by enabling SME owners to embrace AI technologies, thereby increasing their adaptability to the rapidly changing business environment. As a result, these businesses will be better equipped to respond to market demands and remain competitive.

Increased Uptake of Adult Education

The project will contribute to the broader goal of increasing the uptake of adult
education. By offering relevant and timely AI up-skilling opportunities, the project will attract more adults, especially SME
owners and managers, to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
